Planting Deeper Roots: Celebrating Our New Branch Expansion in Oklahoma City

There is something truly special about watching a community grow. In Oklahoma, we know that true growth is not just about building bigger structures; it is about strengthening the foundations of where we live, work, and raise our families.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, First Liberty Bank took an exciting step forward by hosting an official groundbreaking ceremony at our flagship location in the Village, located at 9601 N. May Avenue. We gathered alongside local leaders, business owners, and neighbors to mark the official start of construction on our brand-new building addition.
This milestone expansion represents much more than just fresh brick and mortar. Our new building expansion is a direct reflection of our commitment to Oklahoma and our desire to serve you better.
Why We Are Expanding Our Oklahoma City Footprint
Over the past few years, we have seen incredible momentum across the OKC metro area. As our local businesses expand and more families call this community home, their financial needs naturally evolve and grow too.
We believe that providing excellent, modern banking requires space where relationships can truly flourish. This new physical addition ensures that we have the room and the resources to support your financial journey for decades to come.
What this expansion means for our customers:
- Greater Access: More room to meet with our local team of expert lenders and financial advisors.
- Enhanced Service: Space dedicated to delivering specialized financial solutions built around your busy schedule.
- Community Integration: A modern environment designed to foster collaboration and support the local economy.
A Gathering of Local Voices and Local Hearts
The groundbreaking ceremony kicked off with Hardy Watkins, the Senior Vice President of Membership & Investor Relations for the Greater OKC Chamber, providing our opening welcome remarks. He spoke passionately about the economic momentum in our city and how locally owned community banks drive long-term prosperity.
We then had the distinct honor of hearing from Russ Landon, Chief of Police for The Village Police Department, who shared community remarks that reminded us of the power of local connection and mutual support.
The event highlighted the deep partnerships we share with civic organizations and local law enforcement who keep our neighborhoods safe and thriving.
Shovels in the Dirt: Turning Vision into Reality
The highlight of the morning came during the main addresses from bank management.
First Liberty Bank Chief Executive Officer Joey Root took the stage to deliver a powerful keynote address focusing on our core mission: relationship-based community banking. Joey reminded us that while big, national banks rely on impersonal computer algorithms, our strength lies in looking at the people behind the paperwork.
Finally, Hoyt Henson, our Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer, wrapped up the speeches with heartfelt closing remarks.
Why In-Person Banking Matters in a Digital World
It is no secret that you can do a lot of your banking from a smartphone app these days. We love technology, and we constantly invest in features that make managing your accounts easier from home or on the go.
However, we also know that a screen can never completely replace a handshake. When you are making major life decisions—like buying a home, funding a local business, or opening your child's first account—having a physical, local place to visit matters.
We build relationships first and manage accounts second. Whether you utilize our automated tools or walk through our doors just for free popcorn, our goal is to treat you like a neighbor, not a transaction number.
Looking Ahead to a Brighter Future Together
The morning concluded the way any good Oklahoma gathering should—with delicious donuts, fresh coffee, and great conversations among neighbors. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took time out of their busy Wednesday morning to celebrate this milestone with us.
This building expansion belongs to you, our customers, because your trust is what made it possible. We are proud of our local roots, and we are excited to continue investing back into the community that has given us so much.
First Liberty Bank will remain fully operational throughout the building phase, ensuring uninterrupted service and care for all clients. Consult with our branch team if you ever have questions about parking adjustments or office access during the construction. We appreciate your patience.
Thank you for being a part of the First Liberty Bank family. Let's keep growing together!
